창세기 24장 No!

당시 결혼 관례가 어떠했는지는 더 찾아볼 일이다. 아브라함은 이삭의 결혼할 신부를 찾는 과업을 가장 나이 많은 종에게 맡긴다. 이름모를 그 종은 신실하게 주인의 말씀을 따라 아브라함의 집이 살고 있는 하란으로 가서 신부를 만난다. 인도하심 받는 기도의 과정도 매우 구체적이며 창세기 기자가 두 번이나 반복해서 그 기도의 내용을 옮겼다. 아브라함이 하나님께서 그 천사를 보내 도우시리라 했던 말처럼 그 과정을 인도하셨다.

주목해 보는 것은 종에게 맹세하게 하는 아브라함이 하늘의 하나님께서 약속하신 그 비전을 나누고 있는 장면이다.

다음 세대들에게 하나님의 약속을 상기시키고 그것에서 떠나지 않도록 해야 할 책임이 제게 있습니다. 배우자와의 결혼이 중요합니다.

눗의 사임 문제로 무거운 이 때에 이 딸의 삶이 심히 염려스럽고 오직 주님께서 친히 흔드시고 빛을 비추시고 깨워주시기를 기도합니다.



Swear by the Lord, the God of heaven and earth, that you will not allow my son to marry one of these local Canaanite women.

“No!” Abraham responded. “Be careful never to take my son there. For the Lord, the God of heaven, who took me from my father’s house and my native land, solemnly promised to give this land to my descendants. He will send his angel ahead of you, and he will see to it that you find a wife there for my son. If she is unwilling to come back with you, then you are free from this oath of mine. But under no circumstances are you to take my son there.”

This is my request. I will ask one of them, ‘Please give me a drink from your jug.’ If she says, ‘Yes, have a drink, and I will water your camels, too!’—let her be the one you have selected as Isaac’s wife. This is how I will know that you have shown unfailing love to my master.””
